One Step and A LOT of HOPE

So finally after Christmas and waiting an entire month it was the morning of our appointment. Of course it was snowing the entire day prior and when we woke up it had snowed even more. Andy had planned on going to work early – around 5am he left… he made it all but 15 feet before the car turned sideways in our driveway. The following 4 hours we spent shoveling out our driveway and pushing the car out of the conundrum it was stuck in. The doctors office we were going to was 2 hours away in Rochester. The physician we wanted to see was booked solid locally (1 hour away) but his other office could fit me in so we had planned on our initial consult to be 2 hours away in Rochester and then have all my other appointments in Syracuse.

After going back and forth as to try to make it there or not in the 2-3 feet of snow that was still coming down we finally decided we’d head out there. The office had assured me if we traveled there they could see us even if we were delayed due to the road conditions. In total it took us over 2.5 hours to get there, slowly but surely – it was so entirely worth it. The minute we walked into the office we were so calm and extremely relaxed. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the doctor we had hoped but would with our follow ups – the doctor that was in the office that day was just doing our initial consult. After reviewing every historical data and what brought us there he laid out what our cycles would look like if we decided to IUI (IntraUterine Insemination). They took more blood work and did a baseline ultrasound. Nothing too much but enough that we felt we were in the right place. This office believed in both eastern and western medicine so on top of just a normal IUI or IVF cycle they incorporated massage, acupuncture, yoga. They also had a small cafe that had teas, coffees, smoothies and a few bites to eat.

We left feeling refreshed and more HOPE renewed.
